Kind Words from Recent Presenters
“…at some point in Pacífico’s 13‐year history, (director Adriana) Gainey joined the second generation of U.S. folkloric choreographers, developing her own perspective on Mexican culture and giving her company its own artistic identity…”‐‐Lewis Segal, Los Angeles Times Dance Critic
“It was a Mexican fiesta, a celebration where the spirit of our southern neighbor arose and joyfully danced around the full to capacity Ford Amphitheatre of Hollywood. The Ballet Folklórico del Pacífico embodied that spirit, allowing it to reveal some of the truest nuances.”‐‐Rosalba Ruiz, LatinoLA
“Past performances show that (Pacifico Dance Co) is successfully mastering Amalia Hernandez’s techniques for infusing traditional regional dances with engaging theatrical elements and dynamic choreography that demands trained dancers.”‐‐Ann Haskins, LA Weekly
“Pacífico Dance Company is a true ballet incorporating gymnastic‐type leaps and feats across the stage! It’s an experience you can’t miss, something you rarely see outside the big entertainment complexes in Los Angeles.”‐‐The Santa Paula Times
Pepperdine University Review
“2019 was our third time bringing Pacifico Dance Company to Pepperdine, but will certainly not be our last. The quality of the dancing and the production values of the company continue to grow each year. In 2019, we brought the company in for a public performance and an ARTSReach performance for area schools. Both were excellent. The public performance attracted a diverse audience, including children, adults, seniors, and Pepperdine students.
All commented on the high quality of the performance and the wide range of themes, moods, music, and dance incorporated into a single performance. The live music adds a great deal to the experience, as does the beautiful costuming. The ARTSReach performance was also very strong. Teachers appreciated the strong cultural programming while children ooohed and ahhhhed over the stunning dancing and costuming.
It’s always a great pleasure having Pacifico Dance Company perform at Pepperdine. I am happy to recommend them to other presenters and to all audiences”
